Hypnosis to Quit Smoking

Hypnosis to quit smoking has been gaining popularity and credibility in recent years. This has been the case for alternative methods to treat health problems in general. People are waking up to the reality of the toxic effects of prescription drugs and are aware of the financial monopoly that the pharmaceutical companies use to control doctors in the United States.

A simple Google search on hypnosis to quit smoking brings up about 590,000 websites.

This shows just how popular this subject has become. As public awareness about the true nature of hypnosis rises so does its use for solving problems such as nicotine addiction.

There is good reason for the rise in popularity of hypnosis to quit smoking. There are several published studies that have proven hypnosis to be the superior method to give up cigarettes. Results show anywhere from a 50% to 70% success rate at 1 year after quitting smoking when multiple session hypnosis is used.

This result is from the use of hypnosis alone. Compared to the 5% of people who were still not smoking at 1 year who did nothing but stop cold turkey this result is phenomenal.

These same studies also assessed the effectiveness of other methods to quit smoking. Nicotine replacement therapy, drug therapy and support groups showed a 25-30% success rate at 1 year. This is of course significantly better than the results of quitting cold turkey. It’s also not nearly as good as using hypnosis. While it was not determined what the results of combining methods might be, it stands to reason that it would be a good idea. Most likely, combining hypnosis to quit smoking with nicotine replacement and/or drug therapy could give excellent chances for quitting smoking permanently.

Hypnosis for Quitting Smoking

As someone active in helping others quit smoking, I am often asked if hypnosis for quitting smoking is something people need to look into. Is it valid? Does it work? Or, is it just baloney?

So, I did a little research into hypnosis for quitting smoking. Now, I’ve never been hypnotized. I’m not even sure I can be hypnotized-only a fraction of the population actually can be-but, as far as I can tell, hypnosis is definitely something you want to consider if you’re trying to quit.

I think folks get the idea that you’re hypnotized and told something like: “When I snap my fingers you will no longer want to smoke.

” And, when you wake up, you’ll not have any desire at all to smoke.

That’s not how it works.

To understand how it does work, let’s talk about the mind a moment.

Psychologists believe we have a conscious and subconscious mind. This idea is actually found in a number of eastern religions, like Hinduism and Buddhism. The thoughts we hold in our conscious mind obviously affect the outcome of our lives. But it’s the thoughts in our subconscious minds that potentially have an even greater effect on us.

I’ve often noticed that people tend to validate their self-images.

If you think of yourself as a smoker, you’re going to tend to smoke. This makes it harder for you to quit.

What if you could change your internal thought patterns from “I am a smoker” to “I am not a smoker,” or at least to “I am able to quit smoking”?

I can tell you right now, that would go a long way toward getting you off cigarettes.

Well, what hypnosis does is quiet the conscious mind so that the subconscious mind is more easily reached. It opens up the subconscious mind, which makes it easier to get a new thought pattern in place.

Hypnosis is not a quick cure. You still have to work at quitting. You want to keep an open mind about hypnosis, however. It has helped a lot of people quit, and might be of benefit to you.

Use Hypnosis To Quit Smoking

If you want to use hypnosis to quit smoking you need to be open-minded enough to explore innovative methods. Well let me put it this way: if you have been stupid enough to start smoking, the least you can do for your body is to be open-minded enough to try out new methods to quit. Let’s talk about smoking: did you know that a person’s increased risk of contracting lung cancer is directly proportional to the length of time that person continues to smoke as well as the quantity smoked. Nevertheless, if someone quits smoking, then these chances will gradually diminish as the damage to their body is repaired. A year after quitting, the risk of contracting heart disease is half that of a continuing smoker.

If will power is not the solution you need, find out how to do self-hypnosis to have a better control over your emotions and use hypnosis to quit smoking!

Learning how to do self-hypnosis allows you to call upon your skills whenever you feel you need them and instantly achieve the frame of mind you need without turning to cigarettes. If you are normally a heavy smoker, hypnosis will redirect your thinking patterns so that you gain a sense of self and look for the positive throughout your day.

Hypnosis can help a smoker begin to abhor the smell and taste of cigarettes, so that they’re not a welcomed stress-reliever anymore. The same method works on people addicted to sweets, or those who bite their nails. Learning how to do self-hypnosis can help you alter your subconscious mind so that you redirect your usual pattern of thinking.

People suffering from OCD -Obsessive Compulsive Disorder- find hypnosis a huge relief in their lives. Instead of enduring their erratic behavior, they gain a sense of calm and peace that hypnosis provides whenever they begin feeling out of control.

Sometimes fear is what is gripping a person and not allowing them to live their lives to the fullest.

Fear of flying, fear of heights – even fear of being out in public – can be crippling and restrict the activities you are able to perform that appear so normal to the rest of society.

Learning how to do self-hypnosis can help remove those irrational fears and replace them with common sense feelings so that you don’t have to miss out on what life has to offer. Lighting a cigarette will definitely be a thing of the past because your mind is reset to think differently about those habits.

By seeking hypnosis as their treatment of choice, men and women are clearly expressing the desire to completely evacuate certain problems – or at the very least, bring them to a manageable level that does not interfere with their daily activities. In that light, mastering how to do self-hypnosis and use it to quit smoking is a very effective way to get quick results. That is if, finally, you want to take action.
